Trek guide in Nepal

People First

The mountains are extraordinary, but the experience is shaped by the people you share them with. A landscape may remain unchanged, yet experiencing it through the eyes of someone seeing it for the first time can make the journey feel new again.

For us, this is where true expertise lies. Not simply in knowing the trail, but in understanding the people we travel with and creating the right experience for them.

No Two Journeys are the Same

Our standard itineraries provide a reliable framework for the classic routes, but your journey does not have to be limited by them.

Trail in Nepal

Move Slower

For photography, viewpoints, rest, or simply spending longer in the mountains.

A Pace That Works for You

For families, older travellers, children, or anyone who prefers a more deliberate pace.

Beyond the Trails

For side trails, remote viewpoints, and additional experiences that require more careful planning.

Experience Built on the Mountains

We do not craft our journeys from behind a desk. Our experiences are shaped by accumulated time in the mountains, by walking the trails ourselves, understanding the terrain, learning the communities, and experiencing the realities of each region firsthand.

Our team brings knowledge that extends beyond simply following a trail. We pay attention to culture, history, biodiversity, and small details.

The journey should be fair to everyone who makes it possible.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

Why Trek with Us?

We believe the best journeys are not measured by the mountains we climb, but by the people we meet, the memories we create, and the stories we carry home.

PURPOSE

Why We Exist

A journey should feel personal.

Darchog Adventures was founded to offer a different way of exploring Nepal. One that values curiosity over checklists, understanding over rushing, and genuine connection over simply reaching a destination.

For us, trekking and climbing are not the destination. They are the way we connect. They create space for conversations around a teahouse table, quiet moments on the trail, shared laughter after a long day, and friendships that often outlast the journey itself.

That belief shapes every decision we make. It influences how we plan our journeys, how we support our team, how we care for the places we travel through, and how we welcome every person who chooses to travel with us.

We exist because we believe experiences are at their most meaningful when they are shared. If, by the end of your journey, you leave with lasting memories, new friendships, and a deeper connection to the mountains and their people, then we have achieved what we set out to do.

PERSPECTIVE

The journey is shaped by how we travel.

The mountains may define the landscape, but the way we travel through them defines the experience. Our decisions are guided by the people we travel with, the communities that make these journeys possible, the environments we pass through, and the responsibility that comes with sharing them.

This is how we turn what we believe into the way we operate.

ETHICAL STANDARD

Porter Welfare

Regardless of industry norms, we strictly enforce a maximum weight limit of 16 kg per porter.

16 kg Limit
Fair Pay

Insurance

Fairness Is Part of the Journey

We believe a journey should be rewarding for everyone involved. We are proud to operate with high compensation standards, paying our field staff above the industry average.

Our commitment is firm: we ensure our field staff have proper cold-weather gear, suitable footwear, and high-altitude medical insurance for all working conditions.

Packing efficiently is part of responsible trekking. We ask our guests to assist us in respecting our porters by following our Packing Guide.

Safety Over Summits

Our guides are fully empowered and never pressured to continue when weather, altitude, or conditions are unsafe.

We believe a summit is never more important than the people attempting to reach it. Any member of our team can raise a legitimate safety concern at any point during a journey.

Safety decisions may involve altitude-related illness, changing trail conditions, severe weather, exhaustion, or other circumstances. A decision may involve slowing down, taking rest, choosing an alternate trail, backtracking, or cancelling an objective entirely. We value safety over summits.

The mountains give us memories, livelihoods, and a place to belong for a while. We believe our responsibility is to leave as little behind as possible.

5
Max Group Size

Smaller Groups | Smaller Footprint

Our group size is limited to a maximum of five trekkers. This allows us to keep our impact smaller, remain flexible on the trail, and create a personal experience while working respectfully within local communities.

We do not believe luxury means bringing everything from the outside. We believe in sharing what the region offers in a sustainable way while following Leave No Trace principles.

Value Over Price

We do not compete on price. Fair wages, better teahouse considerations, and responsible logistics form the value we offer.

A trek should be more than overnight stops; it is about understanding the history, culture, and people behind the trails.

Kanchenjunga Circuit

We are not trying to be everything to everyone.

Manaslu Circuit

Remote Expertise

From Kanchenjunga to Makalu, our expertise lies where planning matters most.

While we offer classic routes, we specialize in remote routes and 6000m peak expeditions where logistics, terrain, and acclimatisation demand deep firsthand knowledge.

A Place for Everyone

The mountains are for everyone.

We believe people should feel comfortable being themselves when they travel with us. Whether you are travelling alone, with friends, with family, or as part of the LGBTQ+ community, you are welcome here.

Come as you are. The journey is better when everyone has a place in it.

THE DARCHOG DIFFERENCE

The Experience is What We Create

Trekkers in Nepal

Our greatest priority is not simply selling treks. It is creating experiences. What changes is the experience of travelling through the mountains, the people you share them with, and the memories you create.

Because when the journey is over, the trail is not what you take home. You take home the moments.
