Trek Summary
Annapurna Circuit Trek (11 Days)
Diverse. Immersive. Spectacular
Known as one of the world’s most beautiful trek at some time, Annapurna Circuit takes you around the laps of majestic Annapurna range. With breathtaking views of Annapurna II, III and IV, Gangapuran Peak, Khangsar Kang, Tilicho Peak, etc, this trek starts from the relatively lower elevation of Chame at 2700m, slowly venturing into the beautiful Pisang and Manang valley. Once known as the land beyond Himalayas, this classic trek is one of the best trekking offerings from Nepal with its diverse nature, cultural immersion and majestic landscape.
This trek is often a delicate and well served balance of natural scenery, cultural sights and challenge. The panorama of the Annapurna Himalayas is a photographer’s paradise and perfect for trekkers who are looking to expand their experience into a decently challenging Himalayan adventure.
We have designed this trek to bypass most of the Jeep Road section whilst still maintaining the recommended elevation gain. Since most of the lower trekking routes has turned into the chaos of hydropower constructions, our trek starts with a long jeep drive from Kathmandu to Besisahar and onto Chame.
As a devout believers of small groups and bigger adventures, our group size is limited to 5 pax per group. Guided by experienced trekking guides who have led this trek countless times, our focus is in individual attention, personalised service and flexibility on the trail which our smaller footprint allows us.
If you are a photographer, Annapurna Circuit Trek is one of the most picturesque journey of the Himalayas. Whether you are seeking to capture vast landscape of the Himalayas or the cultural practices of ethnic Gurung community of this region, Annapurna Circuit would not dissappoint you.

DETAILED ITINERARY
-
The Trekking Guide for your trek would meet you at the Hotel and we will have a proper briefing about the trek. He/she will also oversee your packing lists, any items that you might have forgotten or assist for the purchase or rent of the Trekking Gears/Equipment in Thamel. After the preparation is over, the Guide will also inform you the time that we depart for the trek tomorrow and hence, you can enjoy the rest of your day/evening sightseeing around Kathmandu.
We will also collect the necessary documents required for the Permits (p.p size Photographs and Copy of Passport) to acquire the ACA Permits. This would also be an excellent day to withdraw some emergency/extra cash as the ATMs are abundant in Thamel area. We recommend about 200 USD worth Nepalese Rupees, which should cover the extra expenses and/or emergency.
-
We can use this day to further explore the city of Kathmandu. The usual favourites are the beautiful World Heritage Sites. Bouddhanath Stupa, Patan Palace Square, Swayambhunath Stupa (Monkey Temple), Pashupatinath Temple, etc are some of the notable places or you can choose to have a quiet and quaint day with a relaxing atmosphere inside the Garden of Dreams at Thamel.
On the evening, we would meet up to go over our Gears/Equipment and also make time for Rent/Purchase of any missing items should we require. After a short brief about our plans for tomorrow, we will end this day. It should only take 1-2 hrs for the Preparation and thus, you can fully enjoy your day.
-
An early start to our day awaits us as we begin our rather long trip to Besisahar from Kathmandu. Departing from our hotel at Kathmandu at around 5 am, we hope to reach Besisahar between 1-2 pm. All the team members would rendezvous at your designated hotel where our Tourist Microbus would pick us for the onward journey to Besisahar. . We will have our breakfast on the way and amidst the road trip, we will make multiple breaks to stretch our legs.
Besisahar is the district headquarters for the district of Lamjung and you would find this town to be a quite developed filled with amenities and accessible. Being the last large towncenter for the entirety of our trek, Besisahar is a good place to do some last-minute shopping for your essentials or quickly grab some extra cash as there are lot of ATMs in the town.
After lunch at Besisahar, we will depart to Chame and officially enter Annapurna Circuit from Khudi, which is the first ACA Checkpost of our trek. Soon the tarmac would end and we will begin a fun 4x4 driving experience passing through the beautiful small villages of Syange, Ram Bazar, Jagat, Dharapani and reach Chame in 3 hours. Settling in our teahouse, we will call it a night with a hearty dinner and wait for the adventure that starts from tomorrow.
-
Today is a hike of about 4-5 hours for our hiking. We will have our breakfast at about 7 am and then depart for the trek at around 7:30 am to reach Dhukurpokhari in 4 hours. We will pass through Bhratang amidst the journey. Home to Nepal’s biggest apple farm, we will enjoy some time to have some brewed coffee and apple pie at Bhratang before continuing our journey towards Upper Pisang.
We will have our lunch at Dhukurpokhari and hike further for about 45 mins to reach Upper Pisang and call it a day. Upon reaching the teahouse, we can rest, explore the village, freshen up and enjoy the beautiful views of Annapurna ranges from Upper Pisang.
Total Distance – 14 kms
Elevation Gain – 590m -
With the similar breakfast timings as yesterday, we will begin our hike towards Manang. Enroute we will pass through Green Lake, a small alpine lake that is beautiful with the emerald green hues due to its algae growth, reflecting the beautiful Annapurna mountains.
We will have the option of using the lower trail or the upper trail for this day;. Low Trail would see us hiking through the beautiful Manang valley; Humde (where we will take a short break for some tea/coffee) and reach Mungji after the trek of 4-5 hours where we will have our lunch break.
After lunch, we will hike for about 45 mins to reach the village of Manang. We plan to reach Manang at around 2-3 pm. We can use rest of the evening to explore the village of Manang, freshen up and call it a day. Manang is a quite yet vibrant alpine village with Coffee Shops, Laundry facilities, local eateries, etc. There is also a Himalayan Rescue Association Clinic that deals with Trekking related issues and other general ailments.
Total Distance – 16 kms
Elevation Gain – 240m -
Today is our acclimatization day at Manang and hence, we can take it as a slow and easy day. After a late breakfast, we will hike to Gangapurna Glacial Lake and Chongkar View Point which is at 3800 meters. This will be a short 1.5-hour hike to the view point where we will enjoy the grandeur of the mountains and the landscape whilst possibly sipping some hot beverage if the teashop at the view point is open.
After returning to the teahouse, we can spend rest of the day by taking some down time, relaxing, resting and recovering for the days ahead. In the evening, we can take a short walk to visit the stupa in the village and also a 400-year-old monastery that lies hidden within the confines of the village.
-
Today is a short journey from Manang to Shrikharka and our first night above 4000 meters. The duration of the trek would be from 4-5 hours. After leaving Manang we will hike on the Shared Jeep roads for the first 2 hours till the village of Khangsar. The village has number of teahouses and tea shops where we will stop over for some refreshment after the first leg of the hike.
After Khangsar, the trail is a fair gradual ascent till the Tare Monastery. The monastery was renovated recently. Depending upon times of the year, the monastery would have student monks studying Buddhism. The trail after the monastery is a rather steep uphill hike till Shrikharka. The steep section of the trail should be completed in about 45 minutes while the general time from Khangsar to Shrikharka is 2 hours.
Since this will be our first night above 4000 meters, it is imperative to be vigilant with symptoms of Altitude sickness, maintaining Hydration of at least 4 ltrs per day, avoiding any Alcohol or Caffeine and taking proper rest/recovery. There might be mild symptoms of Altitude Sickness for some such as mild headaches, etc. Any and all symptoms should be communicated and we will assess and begin its management right away based on the situation.
Total Distance – 8.5 kms
Elevation Gain – 530m -
Another short hiking day awaits us as we head towards Tilicho Base Camp. Today we will traverse through the infamous ‘landslide section’ enroute Tilicho Lake. Soaking in the surreal landscape carved by wind and water erosion, we carefully hike through this section to reach Tilicho Base Camp in about 3-4 hours. We will have the entirety of the day to rest and relax before the difficult early morning hike to Tilicho Lake on the next day, thus making yesterday and today’s short days ever so crucial to have better acclimatization and rest period for ourselves.
Total Distance – 6 kms
Elevation Gain – 110m -
By far this day would feel the most difficult of the entire hike of Annapurna Circuit. Beyond the hardship, the beauty of one of the world’s highest alpine lakes await our presence with the grandeur of the Tilicho Peak and Khangsar Peak Mountain ranges.
We will start this hike on the earlier time period with a 3:30 am wake up call, light breakfast and hike starting at 4am. It would take around 3-4 hours for the hike from Tilicho Base Camp to the Tilicho Lake. It is ever more important to be vigilant at the landslide section of this trail as there have been injuries/fatality due to falling rocks and debris when the trekkers were too distracted for taking photos or scenery.
It is imperative to start this hike at earlier time frame to catch the more stable weather at early hours of the day and to account for fairly long day. After spending some time at the Tilicho Lake viewpoint where we can enjoy warm beverage inside a lonely teashop right by the lake, we will begin our descent to Tilicho Base Camp. On an average pace, this should take about 2-2.5 hours. After returning to the base camp, we will have a well-deserved rest and some food/beverage to revitalize ourselves. After resting at the basecamp for the next hour or two, we will begin our second half of the day towards Shrikharka in about 3 hours. After reaching Shrikharka, we can use rest of the day to take hot showers or taking a late afternoon nap resting after our long day.
Tilicho Base Camp to Tilicho Lake – 5 km
Elevation Gain – 739 mTilicho Base Camp to Shrikharka – 6 kms
Elevation Loss – 110m -
Today we will depart early after our breakfast to make our way up to Ledar. The route takes us through the trail that deviates from Shrikharka towards Yak Kharka in about 4 hours. The trail takes us through Upper Khangsar and we will come across a large fenced alpine meadow. This is used by the villagers to let their Yaks/Cows sheltered in winter. Having an eagle eye view of the Manang valley, our trail would descend towards Ghunsang. Stopping over for a tea break at the lonely teahouse at Ghunsang, we will continue our journey to Yak Kharka.
We will have our lunch at Yak Kharka amidst the awe-inspiring views of the landscape and the scenery and make our way up to Ledar at 4200 meters. The landscape along the way is breathtaking with majestic views of Khangsar Peak, Mt. Gangapurna and Annapurna range.
Total Distance – 12 kms
Elevation Gain – 130m -
After an early morning breakfast, we will begin our hike towards Thorong Base Camp which is at 4600 meters. It is a short, beautiful yet demanding hike, where we will have our lunch and rest. We aim to reach Thorong Base Camp in about 3-4 hours. After our lunch, we will begin our further ascent to Thorong High Camp which lies at 4800 meters.
After being assigned with our rooms, we will avoid taking any naps so that it won’t disturb our sleep cycle. We will also spend much time outdoors in fresh air instead of inside the teahouse. We will also take a short hike to Thorong High Camp view point for some mandatory photographs amidst the beautiful backdrop of Annapurna, Gangapurna and Chulu peaks. This hike would help us immensely to manage the altitude.
We will have a rather early Dinner at about 6:30 am and take the well-deserved sleep as we have a very early day tomorrow. We will have a briefing session regarding the High Pass, assess our current physical conditions and make necessary interventions if required. We will also decide on the final push for tomorrow’s high pass and call it an early night.
Total Distance – 6.6 kms
Elevation Gain – 600m -
Based on our discussion, we will wake up at around 3-3:30 am. The teahouse is open by that time and hence, we can have some quick breakfast or hot tea/beverage and begin our hike to the Thorong Pass.
The first hour of our hike sees us gaining most of our elevation, where we would then take rest after reaching a tea shop. The trails beyond this tea shop have a gradual ascent to it and thus, it can be viewed as a significant milestone. We aim to depart Thorong High Camp no later than 4 am and hope to reach the Thorong La (5416m) by 7-7:30 am.
After the celebrations for our hard work, photo sessions and soaking in the feats of our journey, we will begin our descent towards Thorong Base Camp down the other side of the pass. The day would be long and it takes about 3 hours or less based on our pace to reach the Thorong Base Camp. After reaching the Basecamp at around 10 am, we will have some food to revitalize ourselves and based on the Jeep availability, we will depart to Tatopani.
Sometimes the jeep access to Thorong Base Camp is stopped in main tourist season. If this is the case, we have to hike for an hour more to reach the town of Muktinath, where the jeep would be waiting for us. The jeep would take 2.5-3 hours to reach the town of Tatopani. We will settle ourselves in one of the teahouses and then, rest for a bit before heading out to the Natural Hot Springs for much needed relaxation in the evening.
Total Distance – 13 kms
Elevation Gain – 616m
Elevation Loss – 1716m -
Today marks the final day of our travel. Based on our itinerary, our trek would end in Pokhara. We will head towards Pokhara after our breakfast. It is going to take about 4 hours to reach Pokhara from Tatopani. Enroute we will pass through Kushma which has the World’s 2nd Highest Bungee. If you wish to add Bungee Jump to your to-do list, please let us know and we would arrange for it accordingly.
The jeep would drop us till our hotel and we can meet up in the evening for farewell dinner and a final session to reflect upon the wonderful journey that we shared and bid our gratitude and farewell to our amazing Trek Assists and the Trekking Guide.
-
Our bus would depart from Tourist Bus Park from 7:30 in the. Morning. We will hopefully arrive to Kathmandu by 2-3 pm. This 6-7 hour of journey is a picturesque travel through windy highways. After arriving in Kathmandu, a Cab or Tourist Transfer Vehicle would drop us to our hotel.

We intentionally keep our groups small to create a safer, more flexible, and meaningful experience. Smaller groups allow us to move at the right pace, adapt to individual needs, and foster genuine connections along the journey.
-

Every decision is made with your safety, comfort, and overall experience in mind.
-
Our passion lies beyond the popular trekking routes. We specialise in remote destinations like Kanchenjunga, Makalu, Dolpo, and other wilderness regions where authentic Himalayan culture and untouched landscapes still thrive.
All of our itineraries are created by the Guides who have hiked these trails countless times. We continuously refine routes, accommodation choices, transportation, and acclimatisation schedules to create journeys that feel balanced, rewarding, and enjoyable.

For us reaching the destination is never more important than returning home safely. Careful acclimatisation, conservative decision-making, emergency plan-of-action and trail safety are at the heart of every trek we lead. Using our local contacts and experience, we plan across the weather events, alternate trails or evacuation/backtracking if the situation requires.
-
We believe exceptional trips begin with exceptional people. Our guides, porters, and support staff are paid fairly, properly equipped, and treated with respect. This is reflected on our pricing structure for our journeys and part of how we operate.

Frequently Asked Questions
-
Most of the teahouses have got descent Wi-fi. While some teahouses charges around NRs. 200, some provide it for free. Alternatively, 4G connectivity is up to Manang available via Nepal Telecom (NTC) as your cell service provider. From last year, the 4G Connection has made its way up to Tilicho Base Camp but it is not reliable as of now.
It should cost NRs. 800 for 20 GBs of Data in NTC SIm Card on your phone. I am not sure about Roaming and/or E-sims for foriegners at this point. The physical sim can be bought at any sim card/mobile phone shops at Thamel. Please ensure to get NTC for remote connectivityy.
-
The teahouses at this trek are comfortable and cozy. While many of the teahouses have basic ensuite washrooms, it is not always available. The teahouses are fairly insulated and doesn't require additional sleeping bags unless you are trekking at mid-end November - March months of winter to early Spring.
The only concern would be the teahouse at Thorong High Camp. Since there is only one teahouse, there is a bit of a compromise on the quality of the teahouse relative to what we are used to at lower elevations.
However, other facilities are almost similar. Most of the teahouses have got decent food choices and prepare not the tastiest but definitely fulfilling meals. We would however refrain from ordering anything related to meat and meat dishes beyond Manang.
-
Annapurna Circuit Trek only requires Annapurna Conservation Area Permit (ACAP). We will arrange the permits for you and thus, please share with us your digital copy of Passport and P.p. size photograph.
-
A gradual approach and pro-active management for Altitude gain and possible symptoms is the key to managing this trek for everyone.
As long as you have a decently active lifestyle, have participated in day hikes or limited multi-day hikes, know and understand the nuances of being outdoors in rugged environment and don't mind the basic amenities and facilities, Annapurna Circuit is very much accessible and doable trek. Given we take our time to have a gradual ascent, take extra days of rest or acclimatization if required and careful with your hydration cleanliness, the trek can be completed in a safe and enjoyable manner.
In our experience, there are 2 notable challenging days; Hike to Tilicho Lake and traversing Thorong La. Since our approach is gradual with combination of short and long days, we would be well acclimatized for these milestones.
-
In case of serious medical ailments or accidents or injuries, our best course of actions would be to get evacuated to the nearest city with better medical care and facilities. It is highly imperative and mandatory to have Trekking Insurance that covers the maximum elevation of at least 5500 meters with Helicopter evacuation.
There is a health post at Manang and Tilicho Base Camp where we can present ourselves for general ailments. However, if the severity of the situation is high, we would call for a Heli Evacuation.
If you display symptoms of HACE or HAPE or Acute Mountain Sickness, then we would plan for immediate descent to lower elevation of at least 500 meters. Assisted with high altitude medication, we will further assess the symptoms, recovery situations and we will cancel the trek awaiting evacuation if the case presented has legitimate risks to your safety.
-
Based on the severity of the situation and its assessment, we will decide if the Helicopter Evacuation is required. Upon the assessment, if we deem its requirement, we will call the Heli company in Kathmandu with our Insurance details. The Heli company would then coordinate with your Insurer’s Agency in Nepal and arrange for the medical evacuation.
Heli evacuation can take up to 24-48 hours given the flight clearance, insurance clearance, etc. Thus, any forms of altitude sickness should be proactively managed to allow for best possible outcomes. It is also affected by enroute weather.
Your insurance company depending on their policies might require pre-payment of all the incurred expenses which will later be reimbursed upon the submission of valid documents. You would be provided with all the receipts, medical reports, hospital documentation and local area reports, etc. that are required for the reimbursement of your expenses.
In light of many helicopter scams in the Trekking Industry, we would ensure that we only avail the service if it proves to be legitimate requirement of the situation.
-
For certain items such as Sleeping Bags, Trekking poles, Micro Spikes, it is possible to get these items from Thamel prior to the start of the trek. Sleeping Bags would generally cost NRs. 150 – NRs. 250 per day, Trekking Poles – NRs. 50 a pair, Micro Spikes – NRs. 50 a day, Down Jackets – NRs. 150 – NRs. 200 per day, etc. We would assist you in selecting these items for rent if you require on the Trek Preparation Day.
-
We pride ourselves on the fair and above industry remunerations for our Trekking Guides and Trek Assists. Our treks are priced to reflect the compensation rates and we would not leave that burden with our clients. We genuinely believe that tips and remunerations should be the reflection of the service and the experience that our clients received.
While there are not a fixed guideline or mandate for tipping and remunerations, it is recommended at 10-20% of the total trek costs. For a trekking of 12-15 days, it can be viewed as about `120-150 USD to our Trek Assist and 150-180 USD for our Trekking Guides.
Please feel free to communicate with the Trek Leader/Trek Guide if you have any confusion or if you are worried about misinterpretation of this kind gesture.
-
You would be provided with a Duffle Bag of 100-liter capacity to pack in your non essentials. This bag would be carried by our Trek Assists by tying in with a head band and hence, it is not recommended to pack in your fragile goods in the Duffle Bag.
1 Trek Assist is allocated to 2 Trekkers and hence, please let us know if you have extra luggage so that we can arrange for extra Trek Assist or organize to store your extra luggage at Kathmandu. For special circumstances we also organize the courier of your luggage to meet you at Pokhara a courier fee would be calculated and added to the final costs.
The maximum weight recommended for the Duffle Bag is 16-18 kgs. This would ensure that our Trek Assists only carry about 22-24 kgs including their own bag pack. They would be carrying the Duffle Bag through the high altitude for our perusal and hence it is important to have this consideration. Please refer to our packing lists to allow for minimal weight as well as maximum comfortability and flexibility during your trek.
Your day bag-pack can be packed with:
· Personal Documents/ Extra Cash
· Hydration Bottle/Snacks
· Toiletries such as Hand Sanitizer, Toilet Paper, Sunscreen, Lip Balm, etc.
· Sun Glasses/Beanie/Sun Hat
· Extra pair of clothing – Lightweight Fleece or Gore-Tex Shell
· Electronics – Mobile Phones, Tablets, Kindle, etc. and Charger/Power Banks
It is recommended to pack your bag packs to be as light as possible less than 5 kgs. Since, you would be carrying this bag pack over multiple days in high altitude, the weight can be over bearing if you don’t have the habit of carrying bag packs for multiple days. While there is not a legal mandate for the weight limit for our Trek Assists, we can use this as a general guideline. Please communicate with your trekking Guide if you feel the bag pack is weighing down on you and we can readjust the pack weight for your comfortability.
-

Rest of the expenses shall not be refunded due to the time commitment and pre-bookings of all the amenities/logistics.

-

This itinerary is a proposed itinerary and could be changed under discretion of the participants’ preference and other factors such as Weather Situation, Trail Conditions, Health Issue, etc.
Packing Guide and Downloadable List
Since we start at this trek from a very low elevation with sub-tropical temperatures to high alpine environment, it is imperative that we plan for the variation in the environment. Apart from the Trekking List that we sent to you, please make the following considerations:
Be prepared for warm, sub-tropical weather for the first 1-3 days of the trek depending upon the time of the year. It is important to pack Sun Hat, Full-sleeved Hiking Tshirt with SPF rating and Shorts/Breathable Summer Hiking Trousers.
We recommend preferably a loose-fitting Merino hiking t-shirt that you is super airy and lets your body to dissipate moisture and sweat. Second, you can have a light weight medium layer that you put on if the weather is on the cooler side. On your third layer, you can use your Gore-Tex shell to protect against Wind or Rain. We do not recommend putting on your Down Jackets whilst hiking to prevent overheating and over perspiration of your body.
You can purchase most of your Hiking Gears in Kathmandu at Thamel. You can get genuine items from western brands such as RAB, The North face, Black Diamond, La Sportiva, etc. Alternatively, you can also choose to look at budget friendly Nepalese brands such as Raeko, Everest Outfit, Kaemp 8848.
